ASEAN Scholarship

FAQ

Background

The Singapore ASEAN Scholarship is offered by Singapore’s Ministry of Education (MOE) to outstanding students from nine ASEAN countries:

  • Brunei

  • Cambodia

  • Indonesia

  • Laos

  • Malaysia

  • Myanmar

  • The Philippines

  • Thailand

  • Vietnam

It covers full tuition, accommodation, and living expenses for secondary and pre-university studies in Singapore. Selection is based on tests and interview. Beyond academics, the program nurtures leadership, communication skills, and regional understanding among ASEAN youth .

PreScholar supports this journey with free prep materials, interview practice, school outreach, and a needs-based travel bursary—especially for underserved students.

What are the formats of the Selection Test?

Shortlisted applicants will take three papers—Mathematics, English, and a General Ability Test—all on the same day. Based on MOE guidance, the test is based on the level just before the one you’re applying for (preceding level). For example, if you’re applying for Secondary 3, you should prepare using the Secondary 2 and below syllabus.

  • For English, students have 2 hours to complete the test: 1 hour 30 minutes for Language Use and Comprehension, and 30 minutes for Writing.

  • For Mathematics, students have 2 hours to complete both short-answer and open-ended questions. Solutions to open-ended questions are generally longer and more complex.
